Picking nose and eating boogers is actually good for your health—Study revealed


Surprisingly, the unhygienic habit of picking nose and eating the boogers that we were taught as disgusting might be good for our health.

A study revealed that people who pick their noses and eat their snot might be healthier as the ‘good’ bacteria not only boost the immune system but prevent cavities, defend against respiratory infections, stomach ulcers and most probably HIV too.

Unbelievably, this bad habit is not really a bad thing to do.

A dermatologist in Denver, United States, Meg Lemon mentioned that parents shouldn’t stop their children from doing this seemingly filthy habit as it is the easiest way for them to develop natural resistance against bacteria.

Professor Friedrich Bischinger, an Austrian lung specialist claimed that eating the dry remains that we pull out of our nose is a natural thing to do and a great way to strengthen our immune system.

“In terms of the immune system, the nose is a filter in which a great deal of bacteria are collected, and when this mixture arrives in the intestines it works just like a medicine.”

Not only that, scientists also found out that ‘good’ bacteria in nasal mucus prevent cavity-causing bacteria from sticking to teeth. Thanks to this, researchers won’t miss the chance to harvest the snot’s dental benefit by working on a synthetic mucus toothpaste and bogie-inspired chewing gum.

“Nature pushes us to do different things because it is to our advantage to have certain behaviors, to consume different types of foods. So maybe when you have an urge to pick your nose and eat it, you should just go with nature,” said Dr. Scott Napper, professor of biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

Well, it seems that parents can now stop telling their children not to pick their nose!
